I received free product in exchange for this review, but all opinions expressed are my own.

The appropriate mix of snarky and #reallife, I truly love San Francisco’s Beach Blanket Babylon show. It may be more than 40 years old and initially recommended by my great aunt, but it’s definitely progressive and fresh. Appropriate for all ages that can drink, BBB is easily the funniest show I’ve seen in ages.

A San Francisco Must-See: Beach Blanket Babylon

I first saw Beach Blanket Babylon in September of 2016 with my family on a girls trip to San Francisco. We laughed until we cried, exchanged knowing glances, and couldn’t stop talking about our favorite parts for the rest of our trip. So, naturally, when my husband Kevin and I started planning our anniversary trip to Northern California, I knew Beach Blanket Babylon was top of my list! The musical revue is packed full of amazing costumes, pop culture, and some of the most talented actors I’ve had the pleasure of seeing.

The Most Amazing Costumes

Known for its signature headwear, BBB is sure to impress. The set is simple but intentional; the costumes truly tell the story. Miss Italy is seen below with her sous chefs, including Top Chef and Chef Boyardee. They’re witty and over-the-top, and I love everything about it. Also pictured: the pineapple princess and Snow White, because I can. You’re welcome.

Pop Culture References

I can’t even do the political references in this show justice, you guys. It’s TOO FUNNY. I’ll show you a few of my favorite photos, but I’ll just put this out there: Jeff Sessions is portrayed as a Keebler elf, Billary makes an appearance, and the von Trump family is beyond words. My favorite hit of the entire show? When Ted Cruz sings, “Born Near the USA.” I’m telling you, the writers of this show are GOLD.

From Kim Kardashian and Caitlyn Jenner to Barbra Streisand and Oprah, the pop culture references are not all political! There was one particular scene that had me practically shouting “YES GIRL! GIRL POWER!” from the audience. It’s punchy and witty; you’ll love it!

The Very Best Cast

You could have the best costumes and the wittiest script, but without a stellar cast, the show would fall flat. I was so glad that my favorite actors were still there for my most recent show! Some of my very favorites include Kelly Brandeburg, Renée Lubin, Curt Branom, and Kirk Mills. And while I may play favorites, the ENTIRE cast is truly talented.

Really and truly, I could not recommend this show more. It’s a great time for the whole group – whether you’re with family or on a date. The whole room feels like your best friends within seconds, and you’ll find yourself clapping along and laughing during the show and talking about it for hours – or days – after it’s over!

Do yourself a favor and book your seats to Beach Blanket Babylon!

PS: Planning a trip to SF? You should definitely add on a Green Dream Tours trip to Napa!
